Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Launches This Month With a New RPG Adventure

Capcom is expanding the world of the Monster Hunter franchise once again with the release of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, the newest entry in the popular RPG spin-off series. Scheduled to launch on March 13, 2026, the game continues the Stories sub-series with a story-driven adventure focused on monster riding, exploration, and strategic turn-based battles.

Unlike the mainline Monster Hunter titles, which emphasize real-time hunting and action combat, the Stories series offers a different experience centered on role-playing mechanics and monster companionship. In Twisted Reflection, players take on the role of a young royal heir who also serves as a monster rider and leader of a group tasked with protecting the balance of nature. The story unfolds in the kingdom of Azuria, where political tension and environmental threats begin to disrupt the peace of the region.

As the narrative progresses, players must investigate a mysterious crisis affecting both monsters and ecosystems. Strange crystalline infections and aggressive creatures threaten the natural world, forcing the protagonist and their allies to explore distant lands and uncover the cause of the spreading danger. The game blends fantasy storytelling with environmental themes, highlighting the fragile relationship between humans, monsters, and the world they share.

Gameplay in Monster Hunter Stories 3 focuses heavily on collecting, raising, and battling alongside creatures known as “Monsties.” These companions can be hatched from eggs found during exploration and then trained to fight in strategic turn-based battles. Combat relies on a rock-paper-scissors-style system that challenges players to predict enemy attacks while coordinating with their Monsties for powerful combination moves.

In addition to battling monsters, players can craft equipment using materials gathered during quests and defeated enemies, a system that mirrors the crafting loop found in the main Monster Hunter games. Weapons and armor visually reflect the monsters they are made from, adding a sense of progression as players strengthen their characters and teams.

One of the new mechanics introduced in this entry is a habitat restoration system that allows players to repair damaged ecosystems and revive endangered species across the game’s world. By defeating invasive monsters and restoring natural areas, players unlock new creatures and resources, encouraging exploration and long-term progression.

The game features a colorful, anime-inspired art style and cinematic storytelling designed to appeal to both longtime Monster Hunter fans and newcomers to the franchise. With a large world to explore, numerous monsters to collect, and a lengthy RPG campaign that can extend beyond dozens of hours, Twisted Reflection aims to deliver one of the most ambitious entries in the Stories series so far.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the Nintendo Switch 2, marking one of Capcom’s major game releases for 2026.

With its mix of monster-raising gameplay, strategic combat, and an expansive fantasy story, the new RPG is expected to attract both fans of the Monster Hunter universe and players looking for a deep creature-collecting adventure when it launches this month.
