Supergiant Games is finally bringing Hades II out of early access, and for fans of the mythological roguelike, the wait is almost over. The sequel is set to hit full version 1.0 on September 25, 2025, launching simultaneously on Windows PC (Steam & Epic Games Store) and on Nintendo’s platforms: Switch and the new Switch 2. This moment marks the official end of its early access period and introduces significant upgrades, performance enhancements, and broader platform support.
Story & Heroine
This time around the protagonist is Melinoë, the Underworld princess, and sister to Zagreus (the hero of the original Hades). Her mission? To challenge Chronos, the Titan of Time, and unravel a storyline deeply rooted in Greek myth. As with its predecessor, the game’s narrative is tightly woven with action, godly relationships, and player choices that shape both who Melinoë becomes and how her journey unfolds.
Performance & Platform Details
One of the most exciting bits for Switch 2 owners is the performance upgrade. In docked mode, Hades II will run at 120 frames per second at 1080p resolution. When played in handheld mode, the experience shifts to 60 fps, still at 1080p. The original Switch will also get the game at 60 fps, though at a lower resolution (720p), whether in docked or handheld mode.
For PC players, who’ve already been part of the early access phase, the full version will be available through their existing platform of choice; existing ownership will suffice, and updates will be free for current players.
Cross-Saves, Physical Edition & Pricing
Supergiant has baked in cross-save support across platforms. If you start your run on your PC, you can continue on a Switch or Switch 2. Save files are transferable through the in-game menus. For collectors and fans of physical editions, there’s something to look forward to as well: a boxed version is scheduled for November 20, 2025. It will ship on a standard game card compatible with Switch 2 and includes extras like a full-color character compendium booklet, a reversible cover, and a soundtrack download code. Pricing for this physical edition is higher than the digital, reflecting the added content and the cartridge format.
Release Timing
The global release clock is set so that players everywhere can latch on at the same moment. In the U.S. Pacific time zone, the drop happens at 9:00 AM PDT on September 25; from there, the launch time rolls out according to local zones around the world, so players in Europe, Asia, and elsewhere will have their own “go live” moment. Because of these global schedules, traditional tricks (such as changing your console’s region) won’t allow early access — everyone must wait for their region’s official launch time.
What It Means, What’s Next
Hades II’s full launch is a big step not just for Supergiant, but for its fans. The game has had a long road of polishing, adding content, refining combat, and balancing gameplay through its early access phase. With this release, all of that investment becomes the foundation of the final product.
That said, it’s only a timed console exclusive on Nintendo platforms. Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for PlayStation or Xbox — owners of those systems will have to wait and see. If history is any guide, ports may follow, but timing remains unknown.
For now, PC and Nintendo players are in for a treat: a polished, full-story roguelike experience with myth, monsters, and Melinoë’s fight through time. The timer’s ticking — September 25 is the day to dive in.
